Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to everyone who has offered support, shared memories, and paid tribute to Professor Maurizio Catagni. Your kindness has brought comfort during these difficult days.
Among the many messages that have deeply moved me, I would also like to acknowledge the tributes from Dror Paley and Carlos J. Bongiovanni. To them, and to everyone who has shared affection, memories, and support, I extend my heartfelt gratitude.
The messages from colleagues, friends, and patients around the world reflect the extraordinary surgeon, teacher, and man he was—and the countless lives he touched.
I am deeply grateful for the words of encouragement addressed to me. I receive them with humility, knowing how much I still have to learn from his example. I can only hope to become a small fraction of the surgeon and person he was.
His legacy is immense. I feel a profound responsibility to honor his teachings, preserve his work, and carry forward his commitment to patients, alongside the entire limb reconstruction community.
To everyone who had the privilege of learning from him and sharing his journey: may we keep his spirit alive through the care we give our patients and the knowledge we pass on to future generations.
With affection and gratitude,
Daniele Pili
